8. Transfer Functions

8.1 Copying patient card

Menu: Transfer / Open 2nd card file
The previously mentioned selection can be used for, for example, copying all of the data of a patient to an other data carrier. This could be another subdirectory or another drive.

After that the target drive and subdirectory has to be specified, whereto the patient data should be copied. If a nonexistent directory is specified, the program will offer to create it. After pressing OK, the patient list divides into two parts, on the upper part is the previous database, on the lower part is the newly opened database. If there already were some patient data, it will be displayed.

To change to the new database:
Menu: Transfer / Toggle card files [F6]

To copy from one to the other:
Menu: Transfer / Copy [F5]

If patients have been selected for copy, they will be copied; if there were none selected, the one selected by cursor will be copied. All data including ECG recordings will be copied.

Re-archive

Menu: Transfer / Re-archive

Previous versions of Cardiax allowed groups patients to be archived to smaller capacity media (floppy disc) for backup. This feature is due to the great increase in disk capacities dismissed, though the re-archiving of previously archived data is supported through this command.

8.2 Backup

Menu: Transfer / Backup

Backup can easily be done with this function to create a duplicate (mirror) database. When Backup is invoked the program will automatically select and copy patient records that do not already exist in the duplicate (mirror) database (or that are newer than existing records).

8.3 Copying and inserting ECG recordings

Menu: Record / ECG-copy, Record / ECG-insert

It is possible to copy ECG recordings:

  • Select the recordings, that will be copied, of the patient on the Findings screen [F3]
  • Use the Record / ECG-copy function to copy the selected recordings. The program will store which recordings are selected.
  • Select the patient's card file where to the previously selected recordings are to be copied, then enter the list of recordings and use the Record / ECG-insert function to insert them to the list.
Examples for the use of this function:
  • If a patient is accidentally recorded twice, it is possible, to unite the two recordings into one, and delete the other unnecessary one.
  • If recordings of a type, for example myocardial infarction patients are to be examined, it is possible to create a fictive patients called "Myocardial Infarction", and collect the recordings in that card.

8.4 Export to file / Import from file

Menu: Transfer / Export to file

All the cards and ECG recordings can be copied to an other file, and vice versa. If exporting to a file the program will offer the subdirectory called "export" and will generate a random filename. It is also possible to assign a name and directory manually.

Menu: Transfer / Import from file
With this function the program will automatically go to the "import" directory, but any other directory can be selected. All the cards and ECG recordings in the directory will be imported. This function is only accessible in the patient list window.

8.5 Send / receive by mail

The cards and ECG recordings can be transmitted by e-mail. An appropriate Internet connection, the proper settings in Setup / Mail and the CRX software on the receiver side is needed to do this.
The sending procedure:
  • selecting the cards / ECG recordings to be send
  • selecting the Transfer / Send by mail function
  • input the "To:" address in the pop-up window
The receiving procedure:
If the e-mail notifier program notifies of a new mail, that contains a Cardiax ECG file, select the Receive by mail funtion to retreive the letter from the mail server and insert it to the Cardiax database.
